Graduate Fire Engineer
Year joined DMA: 2019

I knew I wanted to become a building services consultant during my university work experience – I like being able to do good things for other people, and that is the core of building services consulting.

My professional background

I knew I wanted to become a building services consultant during my university work experience – I like being able to do good things for other people, and that is the core of building services consulting. Commencing my professional career with DMA in the Fire Engineering team is an exciting step and a great place for my ongoing development.

The ability to closely contribute to the protection of lives and assets is what drew me to Fire Engineering. Having seen firsthand the devastation of the 2003 Canberra Bushfires, I know exactly how much damage fire can do. I enjoy working with clients to understand exactly what they need and then delivering precise and accurate results to them, balancing performance with budget and safety.

My specialisations

  • Fire Detection and Protection

My key project experience

  • Priestley’s Gourmet Delights – Designed fire detection and EWIS system for a Class 8, 5 and 7(b) building.
  • Siena Apartments Milton – Completed a Fire Engineering report detailing the non-compliances with the current system and included recommendations to bring the building back up to standard with a suitable solution.

My qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)(Mechanical and Material Systems)
  • Bachelor of Asia Pacific Studies (Chinese Language)

What creating inner beauty means to me

Creating inner beauty means providing people with places to live and work without ongoing problems and inefficiencies. By creating inner beauty to the best of my ability, I allow others to work and live distraction free, with peace of mind.
