Having worked in the professional engineering services industry for the duration of my engineering career, I’m keenly aware of the challenges faced by our clients. I pride myself in providing pragmatic solutions to every project I’m involved with, taking the time to understand exactly what it is the client is trying to achieve.

As our industry is constantly evolving and engineering modelling tools are becoming ever more advanced, I strive to embrace these changes, actively pursuing knowledge, improvement and innovation with the aim of passing on real world benefits to our clients.

Having worked on projects across a wide range of sectors, including public health, aged care, education, retail, commercial, hospitality and residential, I’m able to draw on my past experiences to ensure the best possible future project outcomes.

My key project experience

• Stanthorpe Hospital Air Conditioning Upgrade: As lead mechanical engineer for the project, my role during the design and construction phase consisted of working together with key stakeholders, including Queensland Health representatives, BAS project managers, hospital staff and contractors to develop and implement a design that met and exceeded where possible all the client’s needs. In addition to this, as DMA was the principal consultant on the job, I was also responsible for overseeing and coordinating with the architect and structural engineer to accommodate the new air conditioning installation.
• Queens Plaza Refurbishment: As DMA’s project manager, I oversaw and coordinated DMA’s services team in design documentation delivery to ensure all the client’s needs were met. Further to this, as lead mechanical engineer for the project, my role also included working closely with members of the design and client team including the client representative, architect, structural engineer, ops-manager and maintenance contractor to develop a mechanical services design that met the new project requirements while working within the framework of the existing building.
• Numerous Aldi stores, greenfield, extensions and refurbishments: DMA has a strong history working with ALDI to deliver its projects, in particular the mechanical and electrical services. As lead mechanical engineer on numerous projects, my role consisted of working together with the project team to ensure the mechanical services systems are designed in accordance with the current generic designs and are consistently installed to meet ALDI’s high standards.
• Rose City Shopping World Redevelopment: As lead mechanical engineer for the Coles major tenancy as well as the base-build construction phase works, my role involved the mechanical services design delivery and implementation. I worked closely with key client representatives and site mangers to investigate and resolve all mechanical services related issues which arose during construction. Further to this I managed the services review of all tenancy fit-outs to ensure all proposed works met the requirements and client expectations.
• Redbank Plains Shopping Centre: Each client has different needs and expectations. Simplifying and streamlining the design while reducing costs was a key requirement for this project. To achieve this outcome as lead mechanical engineer I worked closely with the client project manager and mechanical contractor during shop detailing to allow for rationalising of the installed system. In addition, close coordination with the structural steel detailers prior to construction minimised the required alterations required onsite.
• Jaguar Land Rover Showroom: As lead mechanical engineer and DMA’s project manager, my role for the Jaguar Land Rover Showroom included overseeing DMA’s services team in our design implementation to ensure all client objectives were met. There was a strong focus on aesthetics and visual appearance for this project, as such DMA worked closely with the architect and specialist lighting designers to minimise the services footprint and enhance the showroom floor.

To me creating inner beauty is all about minimising the services footprint whilst simultaneously maximising the occupants’ experience within the built environment. The more comfortable the user is without being aware of it, the more successful we’ve been in creating inner beauty.
