DMA Webinar: Building Healthy Places – How to design for healthier people & communities

February 6, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Around the world, communities face pressing health challenges related to the built environment.

For those of us who work in and on the built environment, our challenge is to identify opportunities where we can:
– design buildings and places in a way that improves and promotes public health, contributing to healthier people and communities.
– reduce the risk of obesity and chronic disease by promoting physical activity and healthy food access in building design.

Join us for this free webinar with our guest speaker, Rachel MacCleery from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) as she:
– Overviews the ULI’s Building Healthy Places Toolkit and how it can be and is being used to help develop strategies for enhancing health in the built environment.
– Shares case studies and insights from the US and other countries about how they are developing healthy buildings and communities – what’s working and what’s not?
– Overviews the critical steps to focus on to get started.

Hopefully by the end of the webinar you will leave with a few new ideas and strategies for creating places that contribute to healthier people and communities.

This webinar will be of interest to building and property owners and managers, and anyone who works in design, construction or development of the built environment in Australia.
