The seniors’ living industry continues to undergo a significant transformation across a number of fronts, including investment decisions, legislative and industry led reforms, and new product offerings to house our growing seniors’ population.

The regulator here in Queensland continues its piecemeal approach to the implementation of the legislative changes that will challenge the way retirement villages and residential parks operate, and how homes are leased and sold. These changes are coupled with the important reforms that are occurring as part of the implementation of the Retirement Living Council’s 8-Point Plan, including the Code of Conduct and nationally consistent village accreditation scheme.

Ultimately these changes will influence investment decisions by operators and capital partners, whilst providing security to existing residents and confidence for prospective residents to purchase a product that meets their needs.
