The Queensland Government and Logan City Council partnered together to develop a new indoor sports and community facility at Cronulla Park, Slacks Creek, to be run by the Police Citizens and Youth Club (PCYC) Logan.

Designed to be a community hub for local families, the $14M new facility includes:

  • a rhythmic and artistic gymnastics hall.
  • A 24-hour gym and boxing facility.
  • Multipurpose rooms.
  • Outside school hours care.
  • Upgraded road access and car park.

DMA Engineers was engaged as part of the Peddle Thorp team to complete mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire protection design services for the new PCYC facility including:

  • HVAC system design including Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems. ERV’s were installed throughout the PCYC to help reduce energy consumption by pre-cooling or pre-hearing incoming outdoor ventilation air – reducing demand on air-conditioning, and providing better overall air quality indoors.
  • The electrical services of Cronulla Park were designed in a way to suit a range of multipurpose activities. Lighting in the gymnastics hall was controllable to suit the application (competition etc.). Fittings were designed to be durable and long-lasting in their environment.
  • Fire services was designed to meet deemed to satisfy requirements of the National Code of Construction and the client’s requirements.

The facility was officially opened to the public in December 2021
