TAFE Queensland Fire Building Audit Compliance

The Queensland Department of Energy and Public Works assessed all TAFE facilities across the state to check compliance of existing buildings for fire and life safety compliance. As a result of this assessment, DMA Engineers were engaged to document any required upgrades to the existing fire protection, emergency lighting and exit signage systems.

We were engaged by Fulton Trotter Architects to inspect 39 TAFE campuses across Queensland to document the upgrades required to ensure the safety of all staff and students’ safety. Our inspections took us to TAFE campuses from Coolangatta to Kingaroy, Roma, the Whitsundays and Cairns. This involved inspecting the existing systems that had been installed over many years and determining their compliance to the relevant current standards. As each system was installed at a different time, each upgrade inspection and documentation had to be completed individually.

As a result of the inspections we were able to provide designs for the upgrades required without the need for TAFE Queensland to replace entire existing systems.
