YARRABILBA VETERINARY HOSPITAL

The Yarrabilba Veterinary Hospital is a state-of-the art vet hospital located in Yarrabilba, a significant growth corridor in the Gold Coast Hinterland on Australia’s East Coast. Due to the high growth in the region, a range of developments have recently been undertaken to develop the city’s town centre to meet the demands of a growing population and their pets
Delivering a state-of-the-art vet hospital to a growing region

Yarrabilba is the third vet practice development from the owners of the nearby Tamborine Mountain and Canungra veterinary surgeries. In developing the hospital, they wanted to deliver a state-of-the-art facility equipped to cater for pets and providing expert care in a modern, air-conditioned veterinary hospital.

Creating a safe space with fit-for-purpose services

DMA Engineers was engaged to deliver the hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and fire services for the Yarrabilba Vet Surgery as part of the Therian team, while also working closely with the construction team from Bedford Built. Some of the solutions we provided included:

  • Mechanical services: Sound and odour controls are critical within Veterinary hospitals. Extraction fans were designed to keep the consultant offices free from unpleasant odours while acoustic transfer ducts were designed to maintain an appropriate acousticenvironment for good animal health and well-being, minimising the noise transfer from one room to the other.

  • Electrical services: We designed and documented the vet hospital and adjoining base-build tenancies. The lighting in the tenancy was purposefully designed to be comfortable and functional for people using the space and also practical in the case of the operating lights provided and coordinated in the procedure areas. The power layout required additional coordination given the amount of services in such a small tenancy and needed to incorporate the likes of medical gases, X-Ray equipment and the security system.
  • Hydraulic services: Specialised drainage requirements to multiple dog recovery, hydrobath therapy and grassed dog run areas were designed by DMA. Using specific stormwater and sewer demand driven diversion valves, the dog areas were flexible for washdown without causing blockage issues for lifetime use.
Delivery on time and on budget

Our team was able to deliver modern vet specific services designs and construction assistance to the project on budget for the client and with no time delays.
