DMA Engineers were engaged by South West Hospital and Health Services (SWHHS) to undertake the detailed design and documentation for an upgrade of the facility’s fire protection services. Due to the remote nature of the hospital, it was critical that the fire system was designed to be reliable and easy for the on-site staff to manage as required.

Our scope included an upgrade of the:

  • Fire Detection and Alarm system.
  • Fire Sprinkler System.
  • Fire Hydrants and Hose Reels.

The input of the end user was critical in our design process as the remote site is managed exclusively by the resident nurses. From the very beginning of the project we communicated the legislative fire requirements to the client, and successfully encouraged end-user feedback to ensure the design met as many of the design criteria as possible. This resulted in a positive outcome for the client and end users.

Our team were also heavily involved in the construction process, providing support to the SWHHS team throughout the construction phase.
