Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment

In late 2019 Metro North Health commenced a major redevelopment of Caboolture Hospital, to provide a larger hospital facility and improved parking for the community at an expenditure of ~$250 million.
Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment DMA Engineers

The project is part of an expansion and refurbishment program to modernise several existing spaces within the existing hospital, including a new five storey clinical services building, refurbishment to the existing main hospital building, and the relocation of Building Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) into a new facility. In addition, the project comprises a new multi-storey carpark.

DMA Engineers was engaged as part of the Lendlease team to undertake:
1. Mechanical design and supervision services for the clinical services building, main building refurbishment and the services building including:

  • HVAC systems
  • Medical Gases
  • Pneumatic tube systems
  • Vertical Transportation

2. Mechanical, Fire and Hydraulics design and supervision services for the multi-storey carpark including:

  • HVAC systems
  • Vertical Transportation
  • Hydraulics services
  • Hydrant and Hose Reel fire protection services

The project team have used a clinical design process to help guide the redevelopment, with the designers, builders and users working together to ensure user needs are being met by the functional design of the hospital.

We were tasked with the lead co-ordination role for in-ceiling services, driving a process through detailed BIM documentation and clash detection processes to achieve a high level of inter-disciplinary spatial solutions. This benefits the project by minimising construction issues including abortive works, RFIs and rework.

Images below show the carpark development close to completion in August 2023.
