Clear advice on future scope and design requirements

Due to the rapid expansion of Dan Murphy’s in recent years, ALH Group wanted to put in place a standardised design approach for new store developments and refurbishments. This involved auditing the existing building services at the site and providing scope and design documentation for each development. As DMA Engineers had already worked on many Dan Murphy’s stores throughout Queensland and NSW, ALH Group engaged us to undertake the design services and implement this standardised approach initially at their Miami, Gold Coast, location, and many other stores have since followed.

DMA Engineers have now worked on more than 60 Dan Murphy’s expansion and refurbishment projects across Queensland and New South Wales, from Rouse Hill to Grafton, Mackay to Harvey Bay, and many stores in between.

Our team is primarily engaged to provide electrical services, in addition to some mechanical, hydraulic and/or fire engineering services for specific stores. Our approach when working on a new store or refurbishment involves:

  • inspecting the store or site and providing an existing conditions report.
  • using the conditions report to work with the architects and ALH to develop the correct scope and design documentation for each individual project.

DMA is also assisting scoping by inspecting the existing conditions and developing design documentation and scope of works for Dan Murphy’s tender packages.

Consistency leads to time and cost benefits

As a result of engaging DMA for their audits and design documentation process, Dan Murphy’s have benefited from having a consistent team on the project applying a consistent approach, but still having the flexibility to tap into DMA’s additional services (Hydraulics/Fire/Mechanical) on an as-needs basis.

The repeat exposure of our team to various Dan Murphy’s projects has assisted in our knowledge of Dan Murphy’s deliverable requirements and ‘hybrid’ designs to suit non-standard stores. This benefits the client as it ensures a reduced briefing time for new projects, minimised unnecessary and costly re-work and delivered a shorter overall turnaround time for completion of the work.
