Kingsford Terrace Retirement Village – Stage 1

Kingsford Terrace is a retirement village located in Corinda, in Brisbane's west, featuring a range of apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms.
Owned and developed by PresCare, Stage 1, known as Litchfield, comprised two new buildings - one five-level and one seven-level - containing underground basement car parks, bar and lounge areas, retail, entertainment areas, function rooms and a combined total of 66 independent living units. Stage 1 will be followed by two further development stages to complete the village, which will be undertaken by Aura Holdings who have since purchased the site from PresCare.
Desire for a community based development whilst offering independence

Kingsford Terrace Corinda was developed and managed by retirement village operator, Aura Holdings. The overall design of the architecture and aesthetic of Kingsford Terrace conveys a light, relaxed, resort-style feel, supported by open floor plans in all apartments. It was critical that the building services design was integrated in a way that supported this aesthetic.

Features to create a relaxed but secure environment

DMA Engineers was engaged to undertake the Electrical, Fire, Mechanical and Vertical Transportation services design for the development. Some of the ways in which we were able to assist the client to achieve their goal of providing a relaxed, open environment while maintaining privacy and security included:

  • incorporating CCTV, audio/video intercoms and access control systems throughout the two buildings to provide confidence in the level of security.
  • providing individual air conditioning systems in each apartment to allow occupants to manage their own temperature comfort levels.
Delivered on time and on budget

Through a high level of coordination with the architect Gary J. Garnett & Associates and the builder Woollam, we were able to successfully integrate the building services into the development in a way that supported the design vision, providing an elegant and simple interfaces for users, thereby ensuring system controls and interactions are effortless. Stage 1 was officially opened to residents on time and on budget in 2016.
