In 2010 Westfield undertook a major extension of their Carindale shopping centre asset, adding 22,000m2 footage to the centre via a new parallel mall over two levels, with anchor department stores and supermarkets.
DMA Engineers was engaged to undertake the mechanical, electrical, vertical transport and fire design services for the extension. As time progressed on the project, our role was also extended to include tenancy fit-outs , and we were also engaged to undertake the early works that required new substations for power provision to the new extension.
Throughout the construction phase, we worked closely with the construction team to facilitate the relocation of many of the existing tenancies, with minimal disruption to both traders and customers of the centre.
The project lasted for three years. At the request of Westfield, our team also undertook work for various retailers to ensure a consistent design outcome that met both Westfield’s design standards as well as the retailers specific requirements.
