DMA named Hydraulic Consultant of the Year for Sundale Garden Village
DMA named Hydraulic Consultant of the Year for Sundale Garden Village

We knew they were pretty good, and now we’ve got the evidence!

At the 2019 MPAQ Plumbing and Gas Industry Awards on Friday night, DMA’s Hydraulics team won the AHSCA Queensland Consultant Design of the Year award for their work on the Sundale Garden Village project.

The award was accepted by our Hydraulics team lead, Rory O’Malley, who was joined on the night by team members Ashley Monson and Dean Carter.

The win is testament to the hard work of the team to establish themselves in the SEQ market over the last three years since Rory joined DMA.

When asked about the project after winning the award, Rory said “I was most proud of how well our team worked together in delivering a hydraulic design that used as many renewables as possible, as well as implementing many control measures as possible across the facility to help prevent the outbreak of legionella.”

“I’d like to thank the AHSCA and Master Plumbers for this award, which is an important event to help keep hydraulic consultants and the plumbing industry well connected. I’d also like to thank all the team at DMA – you are only as good as the people around you.”

The $120 million Sundale Garden Village project is a community living environment on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. It is the region’s first health and aged care facility to be certified under the national EnviroDevelopment sustainability certification, and the first to receive ‘six leaf’ accreditation in all six defined sustainability program categories.

DMA Engineers were engaged to complete the Stage 1, Precinct 1 and 2 hydraulic design consultancy. The client’s desire to ‘kick some seriously green goals’ with their EnviroDevelopment certifications required innovative and unique thinking and ideas for the hydraulics design. The assessment-based scheme involves an independent review that looks for outstanding performance on the project across water, energy, ecosystems, community, materials and waste. Our work helped Sundale to achieve a six leaf level of certification.

A huge congratulations to Rory and the team on this fantastic outcome.
